Annapurna Trekking

Annapurna Trekking

The Annapurna trekking routes are the most popular and include some of the best trails in Nepal. Annapurna is the best area for panoramic views of the eye-catching Himalayan scenery. It is a good area for relaxed walking on well-defined trails, with good quality local trekking lodges. All of this makes the Annapurna region a real paradise for trekkers. The Annapurna range includes the five peaks of the Annapurnas, plus Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre (the Fishtail) and a distant Himalchuli. The landscape is varied, with a variety of wildlife and abundant birds. Hindu culture and Buddhist monasteries abound for culture vultures, as well as real vultures like Lammergeyer and Himalayan Griffon.

The area has some classic treks like the Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp/Sanctuary trek, the Jomsom-Muktinath area, the Kali Gandaki valley trek, Ghorepani trek/Poon Hill expedition, Mardi Himal treks, Nar-Phu valley trek, Tilicho pass region, Royal trek, Panchase trek, Siklis trek, Mustang trek, Around Dhaulagiri trek…

The trekkers can not only enjoy scenic views of the high Himalayas, but also catch a glimpse of the blue sheep, goat, jackal, thar, yaks and other species, but rarely snow leopards. Birdlife is prolific and some will see kingfishers, babblers, birds of prey and koklass, blood pheasant etc. Butterflies and insects abound and the upper sub-alpine grassland of the Annapurna region harbours some of the rarest species on earth. Furthermore, a profuse array of native plants can also be found in the forests, since the government of Nepal has declared the zone a conservation area. The Annapurna Conservation Area project helps to preserve the varieties of orchids and rhododendron apart from the species of birds and animals and 'sensitise' local people residing alongside to the needs of keeping the environment safe.

Himalayan panoramic scenes in the region include Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Manaslu (8163m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (7219m), Nilgiri (7041m), Machhapuchhre (6998m) also known as Fishtail, Hiunchuli (6441m), Lamjung Himal (6986m), Tukuche peak (6920m) and Tilicho peak (7134m). Furthermore, there are settlements of diverse communities such as Brahmin, Chhetri, Tibetan, Thakali, Magar, Tamang, Gurung and Ghale.

The Annapurna region is easily accessible; lodges and good food in the hills are plentiful. There are many options to reach the Annapurnas. You can take a direct tourist bus or fly to Pokhara or Jomsom, and also go by bus to Besisahar, from where the Annapurna Circuit begins. It is possible to extend your trip from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park either by vehicle or rafting down the Trisuli River for a Jungle Safari.

We at Yatra Himalaya can arrange all Annapurna trekking destinations as per the requirements of trekkers. Yatra Himalaya offers treks either as teahouse or camping options for independent trekkers and groups, for friends and families, for students in large or small groups; whatever your requirement, we can arrange it.

Here are the details of itineraries you can choose, as per your time, desire and physical fitness.
