Everest Trekking

Everest Trekking

Trekking in the Everest region is one of the most popular routes among the trekkers, for its famous climbing history and spectacular, majestic mountains. The Everest region is located in the northeast of Nepal and offers a unique trekking experience. The Everest trek naturally has the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848m), but it is also known for the loyalty and friendliness of its inhabitants (the Sherpas).

The Everest trekking area of the Solu Khumbu region is protected by the Sagarmatha National Park, established in 1976, covering an area of 1148 sq. km. Visitors are overwhelmed by the views of unbelievable peaks, such as Ama Dablam, the beautiful Buddhist monasteries and picturesque, friendly Sherpa villages. Mount Everest, known in Nepal as Sagarmatha (meaning the goddess mother of the world), has always been the greatest attraction for nature lovers and trekkers equally. Solu Khumbu is the heartland of the Sherpa people, covering the main Everest area (Khumbu) and the region south of Lukla called Solu. The geography of the Everest area is typified by rugged, rocky valleys, alpine forests and meadows, neat Sherpa villages, sparkling glaciers and icefalls. Everest trekking is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see some of the world's literally most breathtaking scenery.

Within the Everest region there are many different spectacular trekking trails such as Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, the Gokyo Ri Trek, the Gokyo–Cho La Trek and the Renjo La Trek. Other routes are the Everest High Pass Trek, Everest View Trek, Everest Panorama Trek, Everest Comfort Trek, Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek, Everest Base Camp and Island Peak climbing, Gokyo valley/Tengboche trekking, Mera Peak climb, Amphu Lapcha Trek and the Everest Balcony Trek. Our short treks around Namche Bazaar, the headquarters of the Khumbu region, visit the Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Thame, and Tengboche Monastery; these are the treks that operate most frequently.

The primary goal of many trekkers to the Everest region is Everest Base Camp, located at an elevation of about 5364m. Because it is impossible to see Everest from Base Camp, most trekkers climb up to Kala Patthar (5545m), a viewpoint on the southern flank of Pumori (7145m). From here one can see the best views of Everest and a number of other mountains, such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Thamserku, Kangtega and Kwangde. Most trekkers will experience some effects of high altitude, making the treks here quite challenging. But while many of the routes through the mountains are arduous, there are ample places to rest and enjoy a meal along the way. You need not worry about this if you are with Yatra Himalaya, because we have so much in-depth experience operating in so many different trekking destinations.

Yatra Himalaya arranges teahouse or camping trips for private clients or groups, for family or friends, large or small groups.

Even if you are not physically fit or don't want to go to high altitude, you can enjoy an adventure in the Everest region. You can observe the indigenous culture of Sherpa villages, take photos of monasteries that are over 1000 years old. Treks can be short or long, from one to three weeks.

Trekking is possible in this area the whole year round; the best times to visit are from the beginning of March to mid-May and from the beginning of September to mid-November.

Here are the details of itineraries you can choose, as per your time, desire and physical fitness.
