Rolwaling Trekking

Rolwaling Trekking

The Rolwaling trekking area has as yet many unspoiled trekking trails. The region is located in the mid-eastern part of Nepal, west of the Everest Khumbu region. The Rolwaling trekking area provides visitors with a true experience of remoteness. Always below towering snowy peaks, it offers a glimpse into the life of the people in this very isolated valley. Trekking here gives you an opportunity to observe the local culture, customs and lifestyle of the Sherpa community here, which has not been affected by mass tourism. Their ways of life and traditions have remained intact. Also here are Tamang and Chhetri people, living in small villages, accessed through dense, gloomy, primeval forests. This high valley is also called 'the grave', due to its isolated terrain that is buried between steep ice-giants. Tourists can explore the majestic mountain environment, discover quaint monasteries and see its spectacular, beautiful waterfalls and the famed Tso Rolpa Lake.

The Rolwaling trekking area and the Tashi Lapcha pass are technically closed to foreigners, but if we obtain a climbing permit for Ramdung, one of Nepal's trekking peaks, then the Nepal Mountaineering Association office will issue a trekking permit for these destinations.
